Cold udon served with a concentrated dipping sauce.
The Story
Zaru udon is one of the simplest ways to eat udon, serving the cooked noodles cold alongside a separate dipping sauce. Especially popular during Japan’s hot summers, the dish puts the texture of the noodles at the center of the meal. The noodles are dipped a little at a time into a concentrated dashi and soy-based sauce before eating.
